Welcome!

Hey, everyone!

Welcome to our Relay For Life blog! We are glad your curiosity has brought you here!

I'm Veronica, you can also call me Ronnie...I'm the one on the left. ------->

Britt (the one the right) and I, along with other dedicated PhilaU students have been working hard since December 2007 to bring Relay For Life to Philadelphia University. It's been over a year and a half and we are thrilled with the way things are going!

We're been through many (at first very scary) meetings with the directors and people in charge of just about everything on campus. We've sent what seems like trillions of emails with both Megan Drollinger, or American Cancer Society Staff Partner, and Missy Stolfi, Assistant Director of Student Development...just to name a few. We have an awesome committee and we have a Relay For Life event planned for April 3rd!!

So what is Relay exactly?
It is an American Cancer Society event that brings communities together to fight cancer. Teams of up to 15 people fundraise ahead of time and come together at the event and take turns walking around a track for 12-24 hours to represent the constant struggle of dealing with cancer. The purpose is to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we have lost to cancer, and fight back against this horrible disease.

With about a month (WOW-really?! where did the time go?!) until the event, we are still actively pursuing new participants, fundraising, and trying to spread the word! It is shocking that after all the emails, signs, and events that embodied the Relay For Life logo and name, many students on campus have still not heard of Relay For Life. So spread the word and register online at www.relayforlife.org/paphilau

So, since Britt and I have developed what we like to call Relay telepathy (it's really kinda scary) and have concluded that organizing a Relay would be virtually impossible without the other, I'm going to turn this over to her.....

:) until next time!
